Roanoke police identify homicide victim found at Rodeway Inn

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  Roanoke City Police have identified the person who was found deceased inside a local hotel room Monday morning.

Geoffrey Maina Ndwiga, 37, of Roanoke, Va., was found by a maid inside a room at the Rodeway Inn on Orange Avenue near Sheetz at approximately 11:23 a.m. Monday.

According to Public Information Officer Scott Leamon, the incident has now turned into a homicide investigation.

The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

Evidence technicians were on scene Monday processing potential evidence and detectives were continuing to interview witnesses.

The investigation remains ongoing.
