Roanoke Planning Commission votes to rezone for apartment complex

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Roanoke Planning Commission votes unanimously to allow an apartment complex off of Orange Avenue.

A North Carolina developer wants to build more than 300 apartments east of Gus Nicks Boulevard.

The site is currently zoned as a commercial site not residential.

During a public hearing, three people spoke against the project some saying the traffic on Orange Avenue will be unbearable.

City council will vote on rezoning the site later this month.
