FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A group of approximately 100 cyclists pedaled the roads of Franklin County on Saturday and raised just under $2,000 to combat cancer in the process.
The event, dubbed Roll Over Cancer, started by Franklin County's Rob Leonard, is now in its second year.
"This is an annual event and this amount is going to be about double what we raised at the event last year. We also had a fundraising ride at Starlight Bicycles on June 20th where we raised $422, said Leonard.
He also added that additional funds would be coming in from Chaos Mountain Brewery, which hosted the event. Leonard has been raising money through cycling since 2011. The money if donated to an organization called Stand Up to Cancer.
Another ride is scheduled for August 22, from Starlight Bicycles on Grandin Road in Roanoke.
