DUBLIN (WSLS 10) - The Interstate 81 bridge that connects Pulaski and Montgomery counties now has a new name in honor of a fallen police officer.

The Trooper Andrew Fox Memorial Bridge was dedicated Thursday. Trooper Fox died in the line of duty in October of 2012.

He was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic for the state fair in Hanover County.

Fox's family said this memorial will be a way for the community to remember his courage.

Trooper Fox's wife Ginny explained, "he's with me every day, but it means so much more to know that people who drive across this bridge will think about him and smile, and it will be a positive memory. And they get to carry a little piece of him with them as well, because I carry him with me every day."

Fox was also a member of the Draper Volunteer Fire Department in Pulaski County.
