New bridge named after fallen trooper

PULASKI COUNTY (WSLS) –Interstate 81 New River Bridge, located at the Montgomery/Pulaski County line, will be dedicated in memory of Trooper Andrew D. Fox, June 16th 2015. The General Assembly, Sen. Charles W. Carrico Sr., and Del. L. Nick Rush sponsored  the legislation to designate the I-81 bridge as the Trooper Andrew D. Fox Memorial Bridge in honor of the fallen trooper.

Family and friends, Virginia legislators, Pulaski County officials, state and local law enforcement, and representatives from the Virginia Department of Transportation will be in attendance for the unveiling of the sign as well and ceremony.

Fox,

27, was killed  Oct. 5, 2012, while working on special assignment at the State Fair of Virginia in Hanover County. A vehicle came through the intersection and struck Trooper Fox while he was directing traffic. Trooper Fox was transported to VCU Medical Center where he passed away.

Trooper Fox was a Tazewell County native who worked in Pulaski County during the time of his death. He was a 2007 Virginia State Police academy graduate and a member of the Draper Volunteer fire department. He is survived his wife.
