Piedmont Arts receives $25,000 grant for public art garden

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Piedmont Arts Association in Martinsville is getting a grant to build a public art garden.

Workers from the Piedmont Arts Association, said they received a $25,000 grant from the National Endownment for the Arts.

It's was part of the "Our Town" grant program, the goal is to make communities better with art.

Museum workers said they are working with the city staff to build a garden that will feature three art designs from artists in the area.

"We are so excited to partner with the city of martinsville on this grant we're going to create a wonderful garden it'll be a beautiful open space for visitors and residents of martinsville and henry county area to come and enjoy the arts, Bernadette Moore, the marketing director for Piedmont Arts said.

Museum workers said construction for the art garden will begin in October.
