Roanoke (WSLS) - Dozens of people gathered in front of Planned Parenthood in Roanoke, Saturday morning, to pray as well as protest abortions. The group held signs and tried to speak to women about alternatives to abortions.

The gathering comes after Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe rejected calls from republican leaders for an investigation into Planned Parenthood. Republicans called for action Thursday following an anti-abortion group's release of a video showing a Planned Parenthood official discussing the disposal of body parts from aborted fetuses.

One of the protest organizers said the recent news has created more support for anti-abortion groups.

"What it has done has galvanized those that have opposed abortion quietly," said Sean Maguire, event organizer. "Now they are coming out and turning out and actually declaring that they oppose abortion".

The group said they hope to see lawmakers react to the recent news and call for an end to the federal support of Planned Parenthood.
