According to investigators, Douthat went to work at Vinton Roofing early that morning and then grabbed drinks with a friend in downtown Roanoke later that day.His cell phone records showed he ended up at the Food Lion in Southeast Roanoke.

However, he wasn't at the Food Lion when a friend was scheduled to pick him up later that afternoon.

"If something has happened I would like to know where I can bring my son home," says Mary Douthat, Christopher's mom.

She and the Center for Missing Persons are holding an awareness event Saturday, at the Food Lion where Douthat was last seen. The event will begin at 11am.

Organizer and state outreach coordinator Lisa Cowling says, she wants to find answers for parents like Mary, who have experienced tragedies like her own.

Cara Holley, Cowling's daughter was brutally murdered in 2010.

"I can't imagine what these families go through that don't have answers," says Cowling. "People just don't disappear off the face of the earth. Cara would want me to do this and it gives me comfort to help someone else."

Meanwhile, Vinton Police are investigating the case and say they have exhausted all leads and are at a lull.
