WRIC – FAIRFAX COUNTY (WRIC) - A Fairfax firefighter used a helmet with a camera mounted to the top while conducting a search and rescue in a house fire last weekend.

Fire crews responded to the fire at 7707 Carrleigh Parkway on July 19 to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the split-level home. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack, but the home still became fully involved with heavy fire.

A second alarm was rung, bringing more than 60 firefighters to the scene. It took firefighters more than 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Luckily, no one was home when the fire broke out.

A neighbor reported the fire after seeing heavy fire from the rear screen-in porch.

Three dogs were inside the home. One of the dogs perished in the fire. Two dogs were rescued from the home by firefighters. One of those rescued later died, also.

The home was a total loss. According to fire investigators, the fire started in the attached porch in the rear of the home.
