Man steals backpack, multiple items from Lynchburg Walmart

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Police are searching for a man who they say stole multiple items from a local Walmart in Lynchburg.

The theft happened on July 15 at the Walmart located at 3900 Wards Road.

Police say the suspect entered Walmart and selected a backpack from the sporting goods section and then placed numerous miscellaneous items inside the backpack. Prior to placing the items inside the backpack, the suspect removed all of the tags from the merchandise.

The suspect then left the store without paying for the items. The total value of the backpack and the stolen items inside the backpack exceed $200.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, 5' 10" 250 lbs., and was wearing a yellow t-shirt, khaki pants, and work boots. The male suspect left in a gray or light green colored Ford SUV.
