LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Two men are listed in serious but stable condition Tuesday after police say their motorcycles collided.

The crash, involving a 1999 Suzuki motorcycle and a 1997 Suzuki motorcycle, occurred at 7:13 p.m. Monday, July 27 in the area of Fort Avenue and Fenwick Drive.

Lynchburg police said operator of the 1999 Suzuki was identified as Alfredo Gutierrez, 23,  and the operator of the 1997 Suzuki was identified as 31-year-old Johnathan Raper.

Both men were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. Raper was then flown to UVA for injuries sustained in the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows both motorcycles were traveling west on Fort Avenue when the crash occurred. Police say the 1999 Suzuki collided with the 1997 Suzuki on Fort Ave. in front of the former Toppers Restaurant.

The Lynchburg Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
