ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Salem Red Sox says they're turning an eye towards winter to help those in need of a warm coat.

The Sox announced this week they're teaming up with the Roanoke Rescue Mission to collect winter coats for the Mission's 4th annual Happy Coats-giving collection.

Folks attending the Red Sox home game this Friday, August 14, are asked to please bring a new or gently used clean coat to donate.

Churches, businesses, schools, and other organizations are also invited to participate by collecting coats and bringing them to the Rescue Mission's donation center at 421 4th Street in Southeast Roanoke between now and November 1, 2015. Organizers say warm coats are needed in all sizes for men, women, and children.

The Rescue Mission says they will distribute them beginning in October and through December to those in need.
