LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg city leaders hope a new bronze statue will attract more people to the downtown area.

City leaders say the original statue dated back to the late 1800s but shattered about three years ago.

After that, a group called Save Our Sculpture raised $35,000 for the new bronze water bearer statue.

It was unveiled at "Bluffwalk," the city's new $5,800,000 pedestrian project.
