ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors approves a move to turn an old elementary school into loft apartments.
Roland E. Cook Elementary School was built in 1915 and stopped running as a school in 1999.
Tuesday afternoon the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors approved a performance agreement with the developers to buy the property for $10 and offering developers up to $150,000 in tax breaks over ten years.
Developers anticipate the project will cost about $3.2 million. Renovations could be finished by 2017.
