ROANOKE VALLEY (WSLS 10) - The Roanoke Valley Convention and Visitor's Bureau needs the public's help to identify what changes need to be made to make the area a tourist destination.

For the past year, the visitor's bureau has compiled data with a consulting firm to determine the needs until 2030 as part of a vision plan.

More than 30 listening and visioning sessions have been held.

Some of the major areas of focus include the arts, economic development, and education.

"We are all great in building a destination for people not only today, but 15 years from now," said Landon Howard with the visitor's bureau. "What are the latest trends, what are people looking for that they would like in the Virginia's Blue Ridge region? It's very important we get input from the public so we can build what they want."
