ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  A Roanoke non-profit is stepping in to help a Covington family rebuild their lives after losing everything in a house fire.

Melanie Couch, founder of Matthew's Child, has already delivered a collection of necessities to Erica Beard and her three young children.

Last week, their house caught fire forcing them to live in a hotel.

"Mom jumped off the balcony barefoot in the middle of the night with her seven-month-old in her arms, wearing a nightgown. They literally had the clothes on their back, so we took them those quick essential, basic necessities," Melanie explained.

Melanie also set up a go-fund-me page to help the family find new housing and buy new furniture.
