Roanoke police arrest man in connection to July shooting

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Roanoke City Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a shooting earlier this month.

Officers say Ryan Gillespie, 22, of Roanoke, Va., is charged with malicious wounding.

On July 13, 2015 police found the victim, identified as Malik Thompson, 32, in the 1600 block of Carroll Avenue Northwest with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was transported to the hospital and treated.

Gillespie is being held at the Roanoke City Jail without bond.
