ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -- Starting Sunday, August 16 there will be several ramp and lane closures on Interstate 581 as crews finalize the I-581 and Elm Avenue interchange project.
On Sunday, August 16, from 10 p.m. in the evening to 2 a.m. the following morning, rolling closures will take place in both northbound and southbound lanes to install pavement markers. There will be temporary stops on Elm Avenue eastbound and westbound for pavement markings.
On Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the southbound off ramp onto I-581 will be narrowed for drainage work.
On Wednesday, August 19 through Saturday, August 22, there will be intermittent closures on Elm Avenue and ramps to I-581 for signage and signal cable installation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This work is weather permitting. Drivers are encouraged to watch for signs and message boards and to use caution as they travel through the work zone.
