VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A charter fishing boat landed an unexpected catch when the crew spotted something floating in the water.
Captain Mike Bean tells WAVY-TV (http://bit.ly/1UhiyKL ) that they thought they were going to catch some dolphins. When their boat, the Matador, got closer, two hands rose up from a square item and waved at them.
Bean says two men were hanging onto the sides of a fishing cooler off the coast of Virginia Beach.
He says the men had gone fishing on Sunday morning, about 30 minutes before the Matador left the dock. Their boat took on water and sank quickly, and their life jackets floated off.
The men were brought on board the Matador by the boat's crew and customers and taken ashore.
