ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Roanoke County is now working to board up the old William Byrd High School after selling off more than 20,000 surplus items at auction.
The county brought in over $16,000 by auctioning off around 20,000 items.
According to a county spokesperson, the money from the auctions will offset staff time and resources that were devoted to removing the items.
Religious organizations, educational institutions, thrift shops and taxpayers participated in the auction.
