Bedford County Fair doubles expected crowd
BEDFORD (WSLS10) - After nearly a 45-year hiatus, the Bedford County Fair attracted the crowds last weekend. Event coordinators were expecting 7,000 people. But, they clocked more than 14,000.
On the fair lawn, events ranged from blacksmith demonstrations to wine tastings, antique car shows and a petting zoo for the kids. And most of the food vendors sold out every day.
"I enjoyed how the community all came together," said event coordinator Joy Powers. "We had people ranging from eight-years-old to in their mid-seventies working at the fair which was an awesome thing to see all of these generations coming together."
This year, with the help of sponsors, fair admission was free for all. They hope for next year to run the same and hopefully attract more vendors.
