NY murder suspect captured in Botetourt Co. after using his cell phone in the area

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A murder suspect from New York was arrested shortly after noon on Friday, after U.S. Marshalls detected pings on his cell phone in the area.

According to the Botetourt County Sheriff, 30-year-old Luis Zambrano of Whitestone, NY was arrested at a motel near exit 150 off of I-81 in Botetourt County.

He was taken to the Botetourt/Craig Counties Regional Jail and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was arraigned on Friday afternoon and waived extradition. He was held without bond and waiting pick-up by New York State authorities for his return to New York.

Deputies from Botetourt County along with the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshalls Service worked for several days to locate Zambrano after he used his phone several times in the area of exit 150. Botetourt County Deputies and the U.S. Marshalls arrested him at the motel without incident.
