New Castle (VIRGINIA LOTTERY) - Two tickets in Virginia won $2 million in the September 19 Powerball drawing. Each ticket matched the first five numbers, missing only the Powerball number.  Normally that would win $1 million. However, the people who bought these tickets each spent an extra dollar for Power Play. Power Play doubled the prize on both tickets to $2 million.

So now the question is: Who has those tickets?

The winning tickets were bought at:

  • Mick or Mack IGA, 302 Market Street, New Castle
  • Wawa, 2501 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach

The stores that sold the winning tickets will each receive a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.

The winning numbers in Saturday's drawing were 12-17-26-43-48 and the Powerball number was 24.

The holders of these winning tickets have 180 days from the drawing date to claim. The Virginia Lottery advises that before doing anything else, the winners should immediately sign the back of the tickets to establish ownership. When they're ready to come forward, they should contact the Virginia Lottery.

Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot continues to grow. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, the jackpot for Wednesday's Powerball drawing grows to an estimated $235 million.
