Torgesen Hall at Virginia Tech evacuated out of "abundance of caution" after threat

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech police said a bomb threat cause the evacuation of a building on campus Tuesday.

A representative at the school said a bomb threat came in around 3:15 p.m. Out of "an abundance of caution," police pulled the fire alarm to evacuate Torgesen Hall.

Police said they do not feel the threat was credible.

After a visual and K9 sweep, the building was reopened about 40 minutes later and remained so. No suspects were named or arrests made, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police said a VT Alert was not issued because the threat was quickly determined to be not credible.
