ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – Twenty veterans/surviving spouses living in the Roanoke Valley will receive needed home repairs for free this weekend as a part of Veterans Renovation Day.

The program is organized by Renovation Alliance, formerly known as Rebuilding Together Roanoke. Approximately 400 volunteers from local businesses, churches, and non-profits will lend a helping hand.

The cost for repairs this year is approximately $70,000. Renovation Alliance is using grant money to pay for the work.

Executive Director Kendall Cloeter estimates that with all of the volunteer hours and reduced-cost skilled labors, the value of the work happening is approximately $400,000.

"Veterans Renovation Day" is an annual program. To apply, contact Renovation Alliance at (540) 400-0959.
