Longwood University to host 2016 Vice-Presidential Debate

FARMVILLE (WSLS 10) - Longwood University has some exciting news.

Longwood University President W. Taylor Reveley IV announced that the school will host the only vice presidential debate for the 2016 election.

The candidates will be welcomed to campus for the debate in Willett Hall on October 4, 2016.

Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Virginia) released a statement on the news, saying in part:

"I applaud the Commission on Presidential Debates for its selection of Longwood University as the host of the Vice Presidential debate on October 4, 2016.  This is excellent news for Longwood University and the Farmville and Prince Edward County community, and I am pleased that the Commission recognized the value of selecting Longwood as a venue.  Virginia has played a central role in our nation's debates since its founding, and it will again host a dialogue vital to our democratic process."
