Shooting at nearby Waffle House prompts lock-down at Christiansburg high school

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - A shooting incident prompted a lock-down at nearby 

Christiansburg High School Thursday. 


The Christiansburg Police Department said in a statement, officers were investigating a shooting incident at Waffle House near Christiansburg High School. Officers did not believe the public was in immediate danger.

Police said the incident appeared to be an attempted suicide and the man had been flown to a hospital. No information on his condition was available. It was unclear if the man has any connection to the restaurant.

Montgomery County Schools said the lock-down went into effect at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 and was "due to an off campus concern."

A message was sent to parents of football players, stating, "Varsity Football: Campus is secure. Kids can leave or be picked up. JV game is cancelled for today."
