"Our children are our number one priority and it is a selfish act on behalf of these board members to hinder progress of our children and community as a whole."

This comes after Executive Director Jaqueline Wiggins was fired from her post at the Northwest Child Development Center on Wednesday.

The center's board of directors called a meeting and fired her, just four months into the job. Wiggins said the firing follows her submission of her monthly report in which she requested that the board step down so that the center could be successful after losing $100,000 in funding by the United Way.

The organization plans to meet at the Northwest Child Development Center at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
