Craftsman Fall Classic Art & Craft Festival
The Craftsman Fall Classic Art and Craft Festival returns to the Berglund Center this Friday, Saturday and Sunday for its 28th year. There's no admission -- but patrons are asked to bring food donations for Feeding America Southwest Virginia. The event features hundreds of artisans.
Star City Sweetness
On Saturday it's Star City Sweetness from 1-4 p.m. at the Grandin CoLab. You can eat sweets from around the region to benefit Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia.
Big Lick Octoberfest
The Big Lick Octoberfest is Saturday from 12-6 p.m. is Wells-Fargo Plaza. It's a German style celebration for the entire family. Admission is $5 to benefit the City Market Building Foundation. Kids under 12 are free.
Melrose Library Fall Festival
There's a Fall Festival at the Melrose Library on Salem Turnpike from 10-2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a petting zoo, horse rides a rock climbing wall and free pumpkins while they last.
Douthat State Park Apple Day
Saturday is Apple Day at Douthat State Park. The annual event is a celebration of Appalachian Heritage. From 10-am to 5 pm at the beach complex. Activities include apple butter making, Appalachian artisan and craft demonstrations and a pig roast. There will also be hay rides and music. Admission is 5-dollars.
They will be hurling pumpkins at the Sinkland Farms as part of the annual pumpkin festival. The farm is open from 10-5 Saturday and 1-5 on Sunday. There are hay rides and the popular corn maze is back again. Be ready for flash mobs, and appearances by the 20-foot-tall HokieTRON.
