Northwest Child Development Center files suit against former executive director
ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Northwest Child Development Center in Roanoke is suing a former executive director.
The center's board of directors claims Gregory Cooper failed to meet license and grant deadlines and misrepresented the center's status status.
The suit goes on to explain the importance of grant money to keep the center running. Northwest shut down in September, a day after the board fired its most recent executive director, Jaqueline Wiggins, who raised concerns about the boards' handling of its finances.
The board is asking for more than $650,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, as well as interest and attorney's fees.
