Funeral arrangements made for VT student killed while riding bicycle

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Funeral arraignments have been made for the Virginia Tech student who was struck and killed while riding his bicycle in Blacksburg.

Mark Slough, a sophomore at Virginia Tech majoring in aerospace engineering, died October 8.

Slough was at the intersection of Sunridge Drive and Toms Creek Road when he was struck by a vehicle around 7:30 a.m.

Blacksburg police said the 19-year-old was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Annandale High School.

Mark's family created a public Facebook event called "Celebration of Mark Slough" where they would like for people to indicate their attendance. Mark is survived by parents Steve and Emily and a sister, Sarah, a student at James Madison University.

The memorial service will be followed by a reception, and opportunities to share memories, according to the Facebook page.
