BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Botetourt County Sports Complex will hold the 2016 Mountain East Conference this year. Starting in January, eight college softball teams will win their way into the conference which begins in April.

The economic impact of the tournament will also be a win for the county. Sports complex management said they're anticipating a crowd of 1,000 people. So far, more than 80 hotel rooms reservations have been placed for the players.

"We do receive some tax off for that," said Billy Martin, a member of Botetourt County Board of Supervisors. "You know, we've got the people that will be eating at the restaurants in Botetourt County, they're probably buying gas here, and they may do some shopping here. We are excited! It's great. You know, we are looking forward to it, we're looking for the recognition in Botetourt County."

The first game to the conference begins April 29th.

The champion of this tournament will earn an automatic bit to the NCAA National Tournament.
