KRON – SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Crews are working the scene of a major crash involving a runaway San Francisco tour bus on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Stockton near Post Street in Union Square.

At least 20 people were injured in the crash, six crash victims suffered critical injuries.

Images from the scene show crews working to extract passengers trapped in the wreckage.

Officials say that the crash happened when the bus lost control, struck a pedestrian and bicyclist, crashed into several cars then slammed into a construction site.

Crews are working carefully around downed power lines to reach the injured passengers. A triage is treating several of the injured on the scene.

At least one vehicle got pinned under the bus. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
