Group pushes for more diversity in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Community members in the Roanoke Valley are looking for ways to increase diversity. Organizers with Points of Diversity held a meeting with the community to discuss ways to make the city more inclusive.

They said, among other things, there needs to be an open dialogue about race relations.

"Everyone feels they have a voice in what happens in their community, we have a lot of people in the margins of the community like everywhere else and it often feels it doesn't matter what they think or say," Katie Zawacki, the acting chair of Points of Diversity said.

Zawacki said members with Points of Diversity says dialogue about race relations will start in January.
