The idea is when you come across a red kettle you can grab the bell, snap a selfie, and post it to social media using #IRangTheBell to raise awareness.

"To kind of give people the opportunity to share their experience of giving this year, because this year the red kettles is celebrating 125 years since it has started and so it's an amazing thing that it has been around that long and continues to be very successful," said Salvation Army Captain, Bill McKinley.

The wide spread Red Kettle campaign kicks-off on Black Friday.
