LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - A new White House initiative that works to prepare students for high-tech jobs is coming to Lynchburg.

The Hill City is the first in Virginia to participate in the Tech-Hire program.

It will offer $100 million in grants to fund high-tech training and hiring.

The training won't just be at universities and community colleges, it will also be available through online courses and coding camps. Hiring will focus on skills, rather than reply on resumes.

By this fall, Lynchburg will partner with SharpTop Co., a software development company, to launch its first nanodegree program.

Interested  applicants can find more information on the TechHire Grants Competition at the Grants.gov application page and at DOL's TechHire page.
