1 killed, another hurt after struck while crossing the street in Henry County
HENRY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - One man is dead and another in the hospital after state police say the two were struck by a vehicle in Henry County.
The incident happened at 9:08 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 along Route 220 Business, one tenth of a mile south of Route 728.
Troopers say a 2003 Honda Accord was traveling south in the left lane - when it struck two pedestrians in the roadway.
The two men were crossing the roadway from the west and were in the left lane when they were hit, police say.
The two men were identified as William Albert Tiller, 53, of South Boston, Va., and David Edward Cole, 57, of Virgilina. Tiller was transported from the scene and died as a result of his injuries. Cole was transported to Martinsville Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Honda, Demetria Quantral Martin, 24, of Martinsville, Va., was wearing her seat-belt and was traveling the posted speed limit. Martin was not charged in the crash.
State police say the two men were not crossing in a crosswalk and were not wearing reflective clothing at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
