VINTON (WSLS 10) - The town of Vinton looks to attract new businesses and revenue with some help from a new grant.
The competition is possible thanks to a $60,000 dollar grant from the state's department of housing and community development.
The partnership will mentor entrepreneurs and help them start a business.
At the end of the competition, entrepreneurs will win cash awards to help them launch their businesses.
Annette Patterson, president of The Advancement Foundation, says the new businesses are very beneficial for the area because they will bring in tax money.
So far, there are 20 start-ups involved in the project.
Organizers say they hope that number grows to 35.
