MARTINSVILLE (WSLS10) - The Martinsville Police Department is partnering with a social media network to help the community stay informed and involved.
It's called 'Nextdoor'. It's a private social network for neighbors to get immediate safety updates in their area. Community members can post concerns that officers will be able to view.
Officers told us they believe it's a way to create more interaction between community neighbors and police.
"I'm hoping that we can find people that just love technology, love their computer, that like Facebook and use this as a continuation of that," said Master Officer Richard Ratcliffe.
The website is used in 84,000 neighborhoods in the nation.
It's completely free to join, all you have to do is sign up. For more information visit: https://nextdoor.com/.
