KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - A U.S. official says American troops were among those killed in a suicide attack on a joint NATO-Afghan patrol in Afghanistan.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the press, said he could not confirm the number of Americans killed in the attack, which took place Monday near Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. military facility in Afghanistan.

Earlier, a NATO official said that six foreign troops were killed when a bomb-laden motorcycle rammed the patrol.

He said that two Afghan soldiers were wounded in the attack.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, which is the largest attack on foreign troops in Afghanistan since August.
