INDEPENDENCE (WSLS 10) - The Grayson County Sheriff's Office and 911 dispatch center will soon get a much-needed upgrade.

The county just spent about $665,000 to buy what is known as the old Grubb building. This former medical center will now become the county's new public safety building.

The current sheriff's office was built in the 1930s and was designed to house only half of what it holds today.

The new facility will be ADA compliant, and it has space for more community interaction.

The doors are expected to open in March. The current sheriff's office will be converted into an agricultural center.
