WASHINGTON (AP) - Prince William County police say the mother of one northern Virginia baby and the parents of another were charged earlier this year in their children's deaths.

The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/1TnGw2u) the two infants, 4-month-old Jahari Jones and 9-month-old Avarice Alexander, died in 2014.

Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said Monday that Candice Semidey placed Jones face-down in a makeshift bed in November 2014. The baby suffocated.

Semidey was arrested in January and was given a suspended five-year sentence upon pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and child neglect.

Alexander died in October 2013 after police say parents Adam Alexander and Jasmyne Alexander didn't check on their infant for 16 hours.

Jasmyne Alexander was found not guilty of child neglect. Adam Alexander is scheduled to be tried on charges of involuntary manslaughter and child neglect in January.
