ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Wednesday, January 6, Powerball drawing really brought out the winners in Virginia.

More than 191,000 tickets sold in Virginia won prizes, including two tickets that each won $50,000.

But since no one in Virginia or anywhere else matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, the jackpot for Saturday's drawing grows to $675 million.

That's the largest jackpot of any lottery game in U. S. history.

The two tickets that each won $50,000 in Wednesday night's drawing were bought at:

  • Ashbrook Shell, 20065 Ashbrook Commons Plaza in Ashburn
  • 7-Eleven, 701 Van Buren Street in Herndon

Virginia Lottery officials expect to sell about 2.7 million Powerball tickets in the Commonwealth on Saturday alone. At peak times on Saturday, the Virginia Lottery expects to sell 5,400 Powerball tickets per minute across Virginia.

If one ticket matches all six numbers, the winner will have a choice: either take the full $675 million jackpot in 30 annual payments, or choose a one-time cash option of approximately $413.1 million before taxes.
