SUV hits Roanoke school bus; students unharmed

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - No one was hurt after a vehicle struck a Roanoke City school bus Thursday morning.

The accident happened at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 at 8th and Tazewell SE.

According to Justin McLeod with Roanoke City Public Schools, there were five students on the school bus at the time of the crash. Another bus came to pick them up and transport them to school.

Roanoke police say at this point evidence indicates the vehicle operated by Dorothy Jane Bruce, 38, ran a stop sign and hit the bus.

Police issued Bruce a summons for disregarding a stop sign. Both vehicles were towed.
