RICHMOND (AP) - A group that examined parole in Virginia is recommending several changes to the state's criminal justice system.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe released the Parole Commission's final report on Friday. The 27-member group was led by former Attorney General Mark Earley, Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran and Secretary of the Commonwealth Levar Stoney.

Among the group's 23 recommendations is that lawmakers raise the felony larceny threshold from $200 to at least $500. The commission also wants lawmakers to consider allowing individuals convicted of drug possession to become eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits.
McAuliffe has already proposed legislation recommended by the commission that aims to provide relief for inmates who may have been unfairly sentenced because their juries weren't told parole had been abolished.
