SALEM (WSLS 10) - A Salem family's social media post on animal testing is gaining attention nationwide.

The Browns adopted Cate, a beagle rescued from a testing lab through The Beagle Freedom Project, last year.

Angela Brown started thinking about how the family would continue their efforts into 2016.

"We pulled out our [2015] New Year's resolutions and on there was to save a dog's life and we did that, so this year we sat down after New Years and said ‘OK, what is it we want to do' and I said, 'I think we need to be more of a voice'," Angela said. "We need to be making people aware, even more so, of what's going on."

"She makes us more desperate, because whenever we look at her face we are like how can someone heard that face," 10-year-old Eva Brown explained.

Over the weekend Angela wrote a letter to companies that test on beagles from Cate's perspective.

It's been shared thousands of times.
