RICH CREEK (WSLS 10) -  People in Giles County now have more options to help them age in place.

After several years of planning and building, Summit Place is now home to people who need some assistance but are not ready for a nursing home.

It is the county's first affordable housing assisted living facility. Owners say it is the only one in the state with private rooms.

Before the facility, many older residents were forced to stay in their home alone longer than they should, go to nursing homes prematurely or leave the area to find care.

The 23-unit building currently has four residents. Owners hope to fill every room in the coming months.
