WSLS Staff – BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS10) - During Monday night's meeting, Botetourt County's Planning Commission recommended the approval of Apex Clean Energy's application for a special exception permit to build a utility scale wind energy development.
The county says the application was recommended for approval for several reasons, including a review of the application by a third party. The county also cited overwhelming public support for the proposed wind farm.

Now the application is being sent to the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors for approval. The board will hold a public hearing on the matter Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at 6:00 P.M.
The wind farm would put up to 25 wind turbines along a three-and-a-half mile stretch of North Mountain.
