CARROLL COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A Mt. Airy man is being held without bond following a 5 hour stand-off with police.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marshal's Service and Virginia State Police arrested Dale Thomas Willard, 37, on Monday.

Deputies said Willard was wanted for three Felony Probation Violations and a Felony eluding a law enforcement officer that occurred in Carroll County, after a pursuit on Jan. 4, 2016.

Carroll County Sheriff's deputies and deputy U.S. Marshal's were able to surround Willard in the 800 block of Fish Lake Road in Cana, after receiving information that he was armed and was inside the home.

Numerous attempts to get Willard to come out of the house were not successful.

Members of the Virginia State Police Tactical Team were on scene and OC gas was introduced into the home in an effort to get Willard to come out. After the gas was introduced, officers were able to gain entry into the home and take Willard into custody. Willard was not armed upon arrest.

Willard was taken to the New River Valley Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.

More charges are expected as the investigation continues, as well as charges from North Carolina are expected to be served.
