ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - With a winter storm system forecasted to make its way through southwestern Virginia Tuesday, drivers should watch for icy spots or slick roads, particularly in the higher elevations, in the New River Valley and Hillsville area, and in the counties along the West Virginia border.

With low temperatures, wintry participation could create slick roads and conditions could change rapidly.

VDOT says drivers should pay particular attention to bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces that may become slick or snow-covered before other areas.

Crews will monitor road conditions and respond as necessary.
